I am inspired by so many things. First of all, I love to wake up with a healthy breakfast and have my coffee on the lanai. We face a lovely, fairly private, man-made retention pond. It’s pretty large and is home to anhingas, egrets, eagles, ducks, alligators, squirrels, mockingbirds, and more. We live about seven miles from the Atlantic Ocean, so it is rare, but we occasionally have a visit from a very clumsy brown pelican. I call him “The Clown” and I love to watch him dive into the water for fish. My morning view faces east so I enjoy many beautiful sunrises while watching the nature show that happens continually here, and having some quiet time with God. I really find this quiet time enjoying nature so relaxing and inspiring. I need that peacefulness to gather my thoughts and allow my creative juices to flow.
I have a ton of Pinterest Boards. I am inspired by painters, jewelry makers, ceramic artists, color themes, antiques, healthy or delicious recipes (love my chocolate!), and anything art-related. I enjoy Pinterest for its visual format which allows me to collect images that set me up for new ideas. You can find me on Pinterest here: dwaldorfjohnson
Textures are a weird kind of inspiration, but it’s true, texture inspires me. I am intrigued by shape and depth, which I love to use to create my bisque-ware stamps for jewelry and pottery. I like woven baskets, floral patterns, leaves, and natural textures, and you can see a lot of physical patterns in my work. I’m currently working on a new line of highly textured kitchenware. Here is a sample that will be shown at a local gallery show for the upcoming Christmas holidays.

I know that people are inspired by a lot of different things. Some folks require quiet time like I do. Other people enjoy walking, listening to music, or something else. I would love to hear from you…what inspires you?
