Tea Time

I enjoy a good cup of tea. I have experienced high tea and visits to several tea houses that were so memorable! I love the history surrounding tea with friends and family, and there are so many different types of tea to try! My tea set collection is stored in a glass cabinet in my dining room. It’s pretty full and several cups and saucers had to be stacked to make room.

Many of the pieces came to me as gifts from family and friends, or while antique shopping. Two beautiful cups and saucers came from my niece when she lived in Germany. Several pieces from my grandmother-in-law were given to me when I married my husband. Several of my favorite teapots were from my mother and sisters. I have a very unique, hand-painted chocolate pot made by my oldest sister, who did china painting for many years. I used to have many more pieces, but I have given some of them to my daughters and granddaughters. Share the love, right?

When our daughter and daughter-in-law were pregnant, I put on tea party baby showers for them. I made several courses for the meal, tea sandwiches, and of course, scones, lemon curd, and mock Devonshire cream! Dianne, my good friend here in my neighborhood, and I put on a tea party for some of our church friends. We planned the menu together and shared the work of making the different courses. I set out gloves, hats, and boas to add to the theme. When each lady arrived they chose their tea party adornments and chose their favorite tea cup. A fun time was had by all. And to be sure the varieties of tea were so fun to sample at each event.

One of my dearest friends loves tea even more than I do. She inspired me to create some tea bag rests for my shop. They are tiny little teapot-shaped dishes just the right size for a used tea bag. I have lots of colors and they make wonderful gifts for any tea drinker.
