Holiday Cookie Tradition

Oh! Christmas! What a pleasure to spend time with my husband, children, and grandchildren.

About two weeks before Christmas I get together with my daughters and granddaughters and bake beautiful and tasty treats for our family, friends, and neighbors. The girls come for the weekend and my home is turned into a huge bakery. Each one of us chooses a recipe so we all get to work on our favorites and each year we try something new.

The tradition began with my daughter, Hanna. Years ago she lived on the other side of the country, so just before the holiday I went for a week-long visit. We baked several types of cookies and enjoyed the experience so much, we started doing it together every year. One year, when she lived in Colorado we did a video chat and baked together to keep the tradition alive.

For the past two years, my older granddaughters have joined us. Lilly loves to bake and Selah is really good at decorating. It takes the entire weekend to bake, decorate, and box up the goodies. At the end of the weekend, we gather up the boxes and walk around the neighborhood to deliver the treats. I must say the neighbors look forward to our annual Christmas deliveries.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday and create wonderful memories with family and friends. What family traditions do you have for the holidays? I would love to hear from you!

Merry Christmas!

Debbie
