It is still very hot and muggy here in sunny Florida, but the neighborhood is beginning to feel more like fall. Summer is full of children playing and riding bikes. School started last week. Even though I am an empty-nester I notice the quiet once the school buses collect the students and take them off to school. I admit I like the quiet most of the time, but I really do enjoy hearing the kids playing as well.

The photo above is a small view of our backyard. We are at the back of a neighborhood, on a large retention pond, and on the other side of the trees is a large canal. This is my favorite space to have a quiet cup of coffee every morning. I work in a garage studio with air conditioning and no windows, but I can often hear a lot of what is going on outside – lawnmowers, delivery trucks, children playing, dogs barking. This is a very quiet neighborhood overall, but when the kids are at school there is a noticeable difference.
Fall also brings on our hurricane season, so we watch the weather closely to see if we need to prepare, but so far we have had no issues. September is the peak of the season and we are praying our state doesn’t get hit this year. You can see from the photo that I have a lot of potted plants that need to be moved and protected from any big storms. Thankfully we have lots of warning time if a hurricane is approaching and we have time to put things away.
As fall approaches I thought I’d give my customers a little gift.
